Paullette Azar-Tannous
General Manager
Paullette Azar-Tannous is the General
Manager of Sonic Clinical Trials Pty Ltd.
Paullette began her career as a medical laboratory
scientist with Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology, working in
laboratories at both the Macquarie Park campus and the Mater
Hospital in Crows Nest, Sydney.
Since joining Sonic Clinical Trials in 1997 she has held a diverse
range of roles including Laboratory Management, Quality Assurance,
Project Management, Client Support Services and Business
Development.
Paullette was instrumental in establishing and developing
central laboratory services in Australia and Singapore and has had
extensive experience in regional Asia-Pacific management roles
which have included responsibilities for Business Development,
Corporate Training & Development, System Development and
Clinical Trial Management.

Dr Nick Taylor
Laboratory Director
Dr Nick Taylor is Laboratory Director of Sonic Clinical Trials
and Director of the Chemical Pathology Automated Laboratory and
Liverpool Laboratory of Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology. Dr Taylor is
a graduate of the University of New South Wales. He trained in
chemical pathology at Westmead and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals.
In 1991, he was appointed as Staff Specialist in Chemical Pathology
at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, before moving into
private pathology practice in 1994. Most recently, Dr Taylor was
employed by Symbion Laverty Pathology as Clinical Head of Chemical
Pathology, from 2002 until December 2007.
Dr Taylor's areas of clinical speciality include general
biochemistry, endocrinology and toxicology. His main laboratory
interests involve the development of useful reference intervals and
improved interpretive comments on pathology reports. He has served
on the NSW Branch Committee of the Australian Association of
Clinical Biochemists in different roles from 1988 to 1992, and from
2002 to 2004. He has also been a NATA medical laboratory assessor
since 1992. Dr Taylor is available for consultation in all areas of
biochemistry and endocrinology, including automated testing.

Dr Karl Baumgart
Clinical Director
Dr Karl Baumgart works partly in clinical practice as a
Consultant Physician in Clinical Immunology and Allergy in rooms at
St Leonards, Wahroonga and the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Dr
Baumgart is also a HMO at Manly and Royal North Shore Hospitals,
Sydney and is available for inpatient consultations at The Mater
and North Shore Private Hospitals in Sydney.
Dr Baumgart has been very active in the Australasian Society of
Clinical Immunology and Allergy, serving as President in 2005 and
2006 and has convened Annual Scientific Meetings for the College of
Pathology, ASCIA and the KDMA. Dr Baumgart has particular interests
in the laboratory in immunological and genetic aspects of serious
adverse drug reactions as well as autoimmune and new generation
allergy testing.
In addition to his role as Clinical Director of Sonic Clinical
Trials, Dr Baumgart holds the following responsibilities: Director
of Immunology & Director of Molecular Biology at Douglass Hanly
Moir Pathology and Medical Director for the Sonic Clinical
Institute Genetics Laboratory.

Garry Chadbond
Quality & Systems Manager
Since joining Sonic Clinical Trials in
2001, Garry has served in a variety of positions, resulting in a
thorough knowledge and understanding of SCT in all its facets.
Garry has undertaken several senior roles including Senior Manager
Global Quality Compliance Asia-Pacific. Garry has extensive quality
compliance and operations experience; with a particular focus in
leading regulatory and compliance audits throughout
Australasia.
Garry has an impressive clinical
laboratory history including serving as NSW Manager of Haematology
and Blood Transfusion services with Hampson Pathology, and as
Hunter Regional Manager for Mayne Health, responsible for a diverse
network of automated and smaller hospital based diagnostic
pathology laboratories. Garry has personally developed several
database systems supporting central laboratory services and
maintains an abiding professional interest in the development and
application of software solutions supporting diagnostic pathology
and clinical trials

Nicole Gates
Operations Manager
Prior to her appointment with Sonic
Clinical Trials, Nicole worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
with Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology across a range of disciplines.
She joined Sonic Clinical Trials in 1996 as a Laboratory Scientist
and played an integral role in establishing central laboratory
services for the Asia-Pacific region.
Nicole has held various roles within
Sonic Clinical Trials, ranging from Laboratory Scientist, to Client
Support Supervisor, and Operations Manager.
Nicole has a strong track record in all
operational areas, including laboratory operations, kit production,
international and domestic transport logistics, specimen management
and storage, client support services and project management. She
has extensive experience in developing and managing teams and has
gained a thorough understanding of the central laboratory and
pharmaceutical industries. With her knowledge and history, Nicole
has developed a true appreciation of the challenges faced when
working with multi-national companies within a strictly regulated
industry.
